they do look pretty cool

And the forgotten could maybe be that ages, and ages, and ages, and ages, and (you get the idea) that at a different continent or something forgotten and humans made a peace-pact or something like that

They realy wouldn't implement the races now in a free update, it's realy something for an expansion pack. You could start out as your chosen race.
Ha ha, I've beat the game. And the centaurs I was referring to would be in the mission: The Wilds. They even state the words that two centaur tribes are joining together to kill the humans...

Otherwise, I'd have to agree with Mistress Eyahl because changing those sorts of things wouldn't require a game changing update like adding in another race with a few professions of its own.

I think the game will end up lacking if there aren't options to be mutliple races. I know it'll lose interest by me. Hell, it already is the more they tinker with stuff like the runes and rare items stuff. They may have created a way this stuff can be available, but there just isn't a way to get the gold necessary. I've also noticed less and less purple and almost no gold items being dropped for me at all. I would normally assume that the farther you get into the game, the MORE those things would drop. However, it seems I am wrong.

We need multiple races.
We need more customization.
We need different races to have different stats and abilities.
(i.e. centaurs NEED to be faster then humans.)
I'm not necessarily a big fan of elves and the like myself. However, we do see many other races in this game. Some of them would be great as a character option.

And how does this sound as a cool feature :
Limiting character creation of other races to accounts that have at least one RP lvl 20? Give those that have worked through the game a bit of credit that way.

Ideas for alternate races that should/would be fairly easy to implement (as models and background story already exist) :

Dwarves (obviously the most likely to fit into current storyline)
Centaurs (native to the sagelands apparently, they could be implemented fairly easy with an expansion)
The Forgotten Ones (These would be best in an expansion with an accompaning storyline of where they reappeared from)

The problem developers will soon face is this :
The PvP in this game is not good enough (at the moment) to sustain interest. Sure, the playable side is fun (and well done), but the duration of matches and intensity of combat becomes repetative.
The PvE is pretty good....until you get to the end of the game. And then it fizzles. I'm now facing the questions of : What will I do when I beat the game? New Armor? The fancy stuff is expensive. Real expensive. And there's no reason to get it either. It has no special properties. (at least as far as I know) It seems that the devs wanted to make you pay for character customization. But, everyone has to be able to customize the same way. So, whatever customization is the coolest, everyone will eventually have. (As a result, I shall resist using black dye on ANY of my characters. )(we should also be able to show weapons in town)
So, what's the point? To be able to say " I've done it." ??

The best way for the devs to go is to encourage customization to the point where the consumers get to be ultra creative in their characters. Maybe it doesn't even stop with characters. Maybe there are other ways as well, but we need to be able to customize them. Guild Wars is basically an online/persistant version of Neverwinter Nights.

We need more races.
We need more model/body types for each race.
We need to be able to choose armor of different styles that does not reflect that armors abilities. (some will disagree with me on that, and I can accept that)
We need to be able to bring pets and show weapons in towns.

It might even be a good idea to make Guild Halls customizable and give guilds the ability to make them "public" where other people can enter and PvP can occur randomly, or guilds could run merchants (and set their prices, etc) in them.
Kind of like making a guild hall a town (in whatever the way the guild desires) for a short while. They could run them like districts in that sense.

Just a few thoughts though.

That's not all you need to create a new race. If the race would compete with humans, they'd need at least 6 professions. Each of those professions would need their own skills. They would need their own towns, storyline, etc, because not all of the races agree with humans.

So basically, by asking to add a new race, you're asking the team to add on another game to what you already have. And besides, it's already been hinted at that there will be new races, with professions, armor, weapons, skills, items, and quests all their own. But it's not like our wednesday update is going to be giving us the upgrade of new professions, they would need a huge patch, most likely in the form of an expansion pack.

Yeah, I definately wouldn't doubt other races like Tengu, Dwarves, Centaurs, or (maybe) even Mursaat being playable in future xpacs, but I'm *hoping* those xpacs are a while aways, because we have a lot of updating we need for GW as is...(plus I haven't unlocked everything yet!)

I agree. We also need more pets. We need flying pets like the Eagles and Dragons on LOTR. More pets in general.

AND WE NEED MORE MONK WEAPONS!!!! I've come across every kind of weapon except good monk weapons. I've had to buy all my weapons that I was supposed to get just from playing the game.

to true... I always thought it would be cool to have a flying pet... also if you could somehow ride the pet as an added bonus...? but still have enemies so that it'd have an added dimension of height....

You know maybe you get on your pet and you can attack from above so you get more head shots but you can only be attacked by long-range enemies but the pet cant attack while you're riding it or something to even that out...?
